Whether an individual has access to health insurance. Types of health insurance plans could range from HMO, PPO, EPO, POS, HSA, to public programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, and the VA.

Provider Availability

How accessible healthcare providers are to an individual. Factors could be the number of providers in any given area, or providers’ capacity to accept new clients or accept varying types of insurance. It could also refer specifically to the availability of specialty providers.

Linguistic and Cultural Competency within Healthcare Systems

The ability of healthcare providers and healthcare organizations to understand and respond effectively to the cultural and linguistic needs brought by a patient to the healthcare encounter.

Quality of Care

The timeliness, safety, effectiveness, or affordability of care for the right patient at the right time.
